thermometers are the familiar "dial type" of thermometer.
There are literally hundreds of millions of these devices in use worldwide,
as they are the principal sensing element in thermostats and they drive the
familiar "clock face" wall thermometers. The advantages of
the bimetal sensor is that it is inexpensive and also not prone to drift or
calibration error. The practical limit of the accuracy of a bimetal
device is about 2ș F or 1șC. This is very useful for most general
applications if the quality of the device is good and the unit has been
